Reunion Resort is a Salamander Property located just off the beaten path in Kissimmee. Literally, it’s a hop, skip, and a jump from all of the area’s highlight destinations, but figuratively – it’s a world away from it all. Situated on more than 2,000 acres of land, Reunion Resort is the only resort in the world featuring three signature golf courses (designed by golf legends Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson). Additionally, Reunion Resort is home to 11 pools and a water park. The property boasts an assortment of villas and suites ranging from 700 to 2,350 square feet – each with a fully-equipped kitchen. Guests enjoy complimentary high-speed wireless internet and complimentary parking.
Aside from a vast array of amenities available to resort guests only, Reunion is happy to welcome visitors to enjoy their spectacular on-site dining options. We were recently invited to a delicious event, “A Taste of Reunion”. which allowed us to partake in some of the spotlight menu selections available to the public at Reunion Resort’s Grande Lobby Sushi Bar, Forte, and Eleven.
Grande Lobby Sushi Bar is aptly located just off the side of the lobby. It’s a fantastic introductory stop for a light dinner, snacks, or evening cocktail. On select nights, Chef Michael Ha delivers “HAsome” freshly prepared sushi with a heaping helping of personality. I’m a bit ashamed to admit that this was my first experience with sushi, but Chef Ha was thrilled to give me an enlightened introduction (even offering to feed me if I found the chopsticks confounding). I agreed to try whatever Chef Ha suggested, and after years of avoidance, I have to admit… I think I’m a sushi fan! My top recommendation is the “Grand Reunion Roll” –
Shrimp Tempura, Cucumber, Steamed Shrimp, Toasted Sesame Seeds & “HA” Special Sauce. It goes wonderfully with “Alex’s Signature Sangria”. Trust Chef Ha’s suggestions for sauces, and enjoy a blast of intertwined flavor that compliments and contradicts so blissfully! The atmosphere of the Sushi Bar is inviting and comfortable for a quick and easy evening out, individually, as a couple, or with a group of friends, and best of all – the prices are fair!
Forte is an authentic Italian Bistro featuring seasonal, fresh ingredients primarily representative of the Tuscany region. Warm and rustic, Forte offers classic preparations with family-styled service. After discussing upcoming renovations and a new menu line, we were treated to some of the finest tastes in Orlando, compliments of Chef Russell Stehle – each paired with fine wines to enhance the flavors. We started with a Compressed Watermelon appetizer with Feta and Mint, leading in to (my favorite) a Panzanella Salad with tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, house-made croutons, and balsamic vinaigrette. This really is the kind of salad that could steal the show on its own, but there was no denying the perfection of the Braised Beef Short Rib with Mushroom Risotto, Grilled Shrimp and Fried Leeks. Personally, I don’t think that I’ve ever had such tender beef.
Our group enjoyed a “Sweet Finale” at Eleven – Reunion’s indoor/outdoor rooftop pool and dining venue. With 360 degree views of the surrounding area, Eleven’s claim to fame is its unobstructed view of the nightly Disney fireworks, but the handcrafted drinks and creative food menu are nothing to sneeze at! Eleven features a modern steak house menu, with unique, complementary beverages.
The open-air veranda environment accents the cozy, chic feel of Eleven. I can’t think of a better place to spend a sunset in Central Florida.
