Black Rock Bar & Grill

A new-concept dining experience has made its way to Windermere, and it is over-the-top amazing! Black Rock Bar & Grill is bringing a bit of Australia to the Sunshine State in the yummiest way possible. Forget what you think you know about Australian cuisine. Black Rock is in a class of its own, and there is no one in the Orlando area that even comes close to combining the selection, price, flavor and experience of Black Rock.

The Michigan-based company recently opened its first Florida location – just a hop, skip and a jump off the tourist corridor in Windermere. The restaurant can accommodate nearly 300 guests between indoor and outdoor seating at tables, booths and a bar. We attended a preview event to see what Black Rock has to offer, and I have to admit… even the menu items that I didn’t expect to appreciate ended up being incredible. Let me also add that they had the friendliest, most knowledgeable staff. Angela was our server, and she was beyond awesome!

Off the appetizer menu, we selected the Dueling Pretzel and Cheese Fondue. Normally priced at only $9.99, a colossal helping of soft pretzel bites is served with two dipping sauces – garlic cream cheese and nacho cheese – atop a steaming hot slab of volcanic rock. This Black Rock concept assures that your dipping sauces stay freshly warmed, and oh so creamy! Stopping in just for this would be entirely worth it – perfect for sharing on a date-night outing with a couple of drinks.

Speaking of drinks… Black Rock’s got you covered there, too! Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 4:00pm – 7:00pm, with $5 specials for every preference, but the extensive array of beverages are fairly priced at any hour. Martinis, Margaritas and signature cocktails average to around $8-$10 each. Wine options in red and white, come by the glass or the bottle, and the beer selection is quite impressive as well. The Fig-Jam Margarita is insanely good – don’t forget to eat that fig garnish… so sweet!

But the real lure of the Black Rock experience is the Signature Black Rock Sirloin! Available in a range of sizes from 12 oz – 25 oz, the top-choice, certified Angus Beef is served on a 755 degree stone, intended to be cooked at your table, specifically to your standards. The lightly seasoned steak is searing evenly on the stone, awaiting your own personal touch. Upon delivery to your table, you’re given tips on how to achieve the desired temperature – the general recommendation is to cut off chunks or strips as you go, with one final swipe across the sizzling stone, before dipping into the accompanying Casino Butter or Black Rock Sauce. This was easily one of the tenderest cuts of meat I’ve ever had. I loved having the ability to control the way my steak was cooked, and it cooked so perfectly on the stone – seared to perfection, with a luscious, juicy center. The presentation was fun as well!

Add two sides to your entree, from the menu of both traditional and unique items. We opted for fully-loaded baked potatoes along with almond topped green beans and a sweet potato souffle. As someone who absolutely hates sweet potatoes, I have to say – this could have been my favorite item of the night!

As if you have any room left after such hardy helpings… you HAVE to find a way to indulge in dessert! Might I suggest the Black Rock Brownie? Priced at only $6.99, how can you beat it? Having a friend to help might be a wise idea.

Black Rock Bar & Grill immediately became one of our top local dining recommendations. There is simply no area of disappointment in the entire Black Rock experience. Whether your looking for drinks and light bites, dessert with an after-dinner drink, or a full-dining experience, Black Rock meets the need in the most delicious, satisfying way possible. Make this one a high priority!

ABOUT BLACK ROCK BAR & GRILL Black Rock Bar & Grill opened its doors October 27, 2010 in Hartland, Michigan, a small town in a very tightly bonded community. They brought an Australian-style dining experience unlike any other. By pairing family recipes, a 755-‐degree volcanic stone, and a love for food, the Morganroth family knew they were a perfect fit for the restaurant industry; however, they had no prior restaurant experience, working only off their dream of what Black Rock could become. With a very determined family and help from the community, Black Rock grew into something remarkable. To learn more about Black Rock Bar & Grill, visit their website
