Destination Madison Launches New Campaign Inviting Residents and Visitors to Explore Outdoor Madison

As summer heats up, Destination Madison is helping local residents and regional visitors find cool ways to “Explore Outdoor Madison”. The new campaign, which launched June 22, highlights the fun activities and natural physical distancing found in our five lakes, hundreds of parks and 240 miles of bike trails.

“Explore Outdoor Madison” focuses on four themes: lakes, picnics, green spaces and trails. Each week through the end of July, Destination Madison will reveal its picks for urban outdoor adventures, from old favorites to underappreciated treasures.  Destination Madison is collaborating with local businesses to offer accompaniments to time outside, including picnic packages, games and activities, as well as other accessories to enhance an outdoor adventure.

This new campaign is supported through a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. The grant will allow Destination Madison to target local and regional audiences, giving them ideas for safe and fun outings, and is an important step toward helping our local hospitality industry and the community members who work in it.

As part of “Explore Outdoor Madison,” Destination Madison, together with surrounding communities Middleton, Verona, Fitchburg and Sun Prairie, have curated 12 iconic outdoor adventures throughout Dane County. These experiences will be released twice a week beginning June 22. Activities include the Lake Monona Loop, Picnic Point and Lakeshore Path, Frank Lloyd Wright Lakeside and more.
