Orange blossom Honey for Good and shortbread Cookies for Good to be incorporated into restaurant’s menu items at OIA
ORLANDO, Fla. (March 19, 2019) – Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida has announced its orange blossom Honey for Good and shortbread Cookies for Good can be purchased in the Cask & Larder gourmet grab-and-go market and two additional Master ConcessionAir markets within Terminal A (Airside 2) at the Orlando International Airport. In addition, the honey will be incorporated into a variety of menu items; and the shortbread cookie crumbles will be utilized as a base for the hand-crafted ice cream from Florida Panhandle-based Southern Craft Creamery.

The two products are a part of Second Harvest’s new A Spoon Full of Hope signature multi-product food retail line. It was designed to create sustainability for Second Harvest’s 16-week Culinary Training Program, which provides at-risk and economically disadvantaged adults no-cost culinary and life skills training to pursue a sustainable career in the food industry. The program has a 100-percent placement rate upon graduation.

The orange blossom Honey for Good is locally-sourced through 40-year-old Goldenrod Apiaries; and packed raw, uncooked and unfiltered. All of the packaging and labeling currently occurs by staff and volunteers in Second Harvest’s Production Kitchen. The shortbread Cookies for Good are baked and packaged at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida in the Darden Foundation Community Kitchen.

About the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida Culinary Training ProgramSecond Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida (SHFB) provides qualified, at-risk and economically disadvantaged adults with the culinary and life skills training needed to pursue a sustainable career in the food industry. The 16-week program is provided at no charge and designed to assist students with barriers that would prevent them from achieving success while enrolled, such as lack of food, housing, transportation, childcare and medical and mental health needs.
