Saturday, September 12, Osceola Heritage Park will be getting cheesy! From 11AM – 4PM, you can get your mac on while supporting one of the nation’s most worthy organizations – Kissimmee’s own Give Kids the World. The second annual O-Town MacDown is more than a fundraiser… it’s a spectacular tribute to America’s favorite comfort food.
Sponsored by Tom+Chee, O-Town MacDown welcomes a bevy of Orlando-area chefs and caterers, all vying to be the big cheese. Among the notable participants in this supremely unique cooking contest: Hard Rock Café, 4Rivers Smokehouse, Applebee’s, Graffiti Junktion, Smokey Bones, Rainforest Cafe, Disney’s Port Orleans, and a the newly-opened Paramount Fine Foods. My personal favorite mac and cheese provider, Boston Market, is also on the competitor’s list. I am quite anxious to see if anyone can top that level of yumminess!
O-Town MacDown will also feature live entertainment, a Kids’ Zone, interactive games provided by Orlando City Soccer Club, a showcase of vendors, and celebrity cooking demonstrations, including a special presentation by Chef Manny FD, the most recent winner of Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen. Included in your cost of admission – the cherry on the cake (er, the cheese on the mac??) – unlimited samples! That’s right… cheese until you can cheese no more!
Tickets are available for purchase online for just $10 (adult) and $5 (kids 12 and under). Children under 3 are free. Ticket prices increase slightly at the door, so don’t delay! Your taste buds were surely thank you for this gift, and so will the many families benefiting from this fantastic event and the efforts of Give Kids the World.
