Ninth season debut on February 28 showcases new show elements, returning favorites

PIGEON FORGE, TENN. -- The unique entertainment experience of the Smoky Mountain Opry, which debuts for its ninth season on Friday, Feb. 28, showcases elements of Broadway and the big screen and features singing and dancing talents that have a Vegas-combined-with-Nashville feel.

The live variety show combines music and dance from every genre taking guests on a nostalgic journey– from gospel to traditional and modern country, rock ‘n’ roll, and favorite numbers from the movies. Elements in this year’s production include a thrilling opening sequence straight from the big screen, fancy footwork and vocals that will get toes tapping, and many more magical moments.

After a trip to the movies, the audience will take a deep musical dive into the decades with hits from the great American jukebox. Songs from the 1960s through the hits of today will have the crowd ready to sing and dance. Gospel favorites will leave the audience inspired and awed, while the finale pays tribute to America’s veterans and is a red, white and blue patriotic salute.

The backdrop for this melodic extravaganza is provided by high energy dancing, spectacular lighting and special visual effects, dazzling costumes that are lavish, bold and eye-catching, and a talented cast of musicians.

“We know that guests of all ages love the epic music that is the Smoky Mountain Opry, and every season we add new twists to the high-energy singing and dancing, visual effects, comedic segments, and talented cast of musicians,” said Michael Headla, Smoky Mountain Opry General Manager. “This season, the talents featured at the Smoky Mountain Opry will impress our guests with everything from amazing vocals and spectacular sets to thrilling aerial performances and comedic fun.”

Smoky Mountain Opry’s 2020 production and its new selection of amazing musical numbers and talent will prove once again why it’s the most attended musical variety show in the Smokies.

This year’s Smoky Mountain Opry performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday with Wednesday matinees at 3 p.m. throughout the regular operating season. The holiday show will begin Thursday, November 5.
