Pro artists mingled at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, attended an array of seminars and keynote presentations, and shopped from over 75 top beauty brands
The Makeup Show Orlando took place this past weekend on September 15th and 16th at The Hyatt Regency Orlando and again proved to be the strongest platform in the world for brands to connect with pro makeup artists and industry professionals. Brands such as Smashbox Cosmetics, MAKE UP FOR EVER, NYX Professional Makeup, and Dr. Brandt Skincare used this show as an essential resource to get their products into the hands of professionals and stocked the makeup artist’s kits with an array of new beauty products.
This year, The Makeup Show Orlando scoured the show floor to see what the pros were buying. Are they starting to shift from one trend to another? Why is there an increase of brands in Florida? Below we will dig into the answers that this year’s show revealed:
BEAUTY TRENDS FOUND ON THE FLOOR IN ORLANDO:
VEGAN BEAUTY: This year makeup artists were increasingly interested in purchasing vegan beauty products. Amongst the most popular were Danessa Myricks Beauty, Formula Z Cosmetics, Stillazi’s new eyeshadow palette, Cozette Beauty, and Nuest Cosmetics.
ROSE GOLD BRUSHES: Pros were quickly picking up rose gold makeup brushes, including those from GabyRos, Bdellium Tools and Crown Brush.
GLITTER IN UNIQUE FORMS: Glitter has been topping the charts as a trend for some time, but we are now seeing it used in more unique forms! The show saw it in pressed compacts, jellies, and paints in products like Ruby May’s Pressed Glitter Palette, Mehron’s Pressed Glitter Palette, Nuest Cosmetic’s Jelly Glitter and Amerikan Body Art’s Pixie Paint.
ALL-NATURAL BEAUTY PRODUCTS: As represented at The Makeup Show Orlando, All-Natural Beauty made a statement all weekend with Rebels & Outlaws’ Lip Scrub and Brush Cleaners, Freshh Face’s facial steamer and toners, and Natural Skin Solutions CBD Infused Clay. Each were must-haves with the pro artists.
FACIAL OILS: Following on the trend of dewy skin, some of the best facial oils made an appearance and some new launches were also seen, including Danessa Myricks Beauty’s new Beauty Oils, Limelife Face Oil (a pro favorite!) and Freshh Face’s AllNatural Face Oil.
HIGHLIGHTERS: Highlighters are a must have in any makeup collection and pros are proving that this trend is here to stay for a while longer. Temptu launched a new highlighter, Mehron’s Highlight Pro was a big favorite, and Pinkie Swear launched all new highlighters enclosed in adorable packaging.
BEAUTY TECHNOLOGY: Not only did The Makeup Show bring great products but they incorporated new Beauty Technology including Glamcor Mirrors, Zero Gravity Skin, Mineral Air, and Glam. Or. Ring.
INCREASE IN INTERNATIONAL BRANDS:
The Makeup Show overall has seen an increase of over 30% of international brands reaching out to be a part of the show, and Orlando was no exception. The weekend served as an important platform for international beauty brands to launch their products in the U.S. and offer their most coveted products to the pro community. This year’s new to the U.S. brands included Makeup Atelier Paris (from Paris), Bana Cosmetics (from Dominican Republic), Masarrat Makeup (from Middle East) and Mineral Air (from Japan).
INCREASE OF INDIE BRANDS OUT OF FLORIDA:
The Makeup Show saw a 25% increase of Indie Brands based out of Florida this year. Is Florida becoming the next beauty hub? It might be true! Some local brands included Bana Cosmetics, Be Rad Cosmetics, Donnatella Cosmetics, TwinMedix, Formula Z Cosmetics, GabyRos Makeup, Nuest Cosmetics and Zero Gravity Skin.
